Stretching & Injury: Maximizing Training
Description: A kinesiology based course, this hands-on workshop delves into the topics of range of motion, flexibility, and stretching. The following types of stretching are discussed: Static, Passive, Active, Dynamic Ballistic, Post-Isometric Relaxation (PIR), Post-Facilitative Stretch (PFS), Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Hold/Relax, Contract/Relax, and Contract/Relax/Antagonist Contract. The performance of each stretching technique and its importance in the prevention and treatment of injuries are highlighted. This class is for all levels of fitness professionals.
Objectives: Participants completing this course will possess a high level of knowledge regarding the various types of stretching and the rationale for their specific use. Students will be able to test clients for muscular imbalances and implement specific stretching protocols based on their findings. Students will have the ability to charge additional fees for flexibility training based on the knowledge obtained from this workshop.
