Healthcare & Fitness…Bridging the Gap
(Two part workshop)
Description: Addressing fitness clients more comprehensively in the future must include advise not only pertaining to exercise, but also nutrition, injury prevention/treatment and general wellness. This workshop will offer insight into the integration of these two industries and enable the fitness professional of the future to take a more active role in their client’s well-being. Part I of this workshop will include a brief look at the fitness industry of the past and an in-depth look at the future. Educational requirements, facility programming and marketing strategies will be discussed. Part II (typically offered at the end of the program) will focus on reinforcing important concepts and motivating fitness professionals to actively pursue this market. It will dive deep into specific programming, marketing strategies and communication skills. Specific topics will include strategies for developing relationships with healthcare professionals, client interview and screening procedures and “condition specific programming”.
Objectives: Students will gain an understanding for what will be necessary in order to succeed in the fitness industry by networking with healthcare professionals. Students will possess the ability to implement specific marketing strategies designed to develop valuable relationships within the healthcare community. Students will be able to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
